York Region MP's to Donate Their Pay Raise to Local Charities

York Region Members of Parliament to donate their pay raises to local charities in the fight against COVID-19

York Region – The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented challenge and has put a strain on vulnerable people, healthcare workers and hospitals in our communities.

York Region Liberal Members of Parliament (MPs) have been working closely with local community organizations to explore further ways they could give support to their residents, at a personal level. To give back to their communities and people in need, York Region’s Federal Liberal caucus members have decided they will donate their MP pay raises for this upcoming year to local charities.

These donations will go directly to various organizations in York Region including the Southlake Regional Health Centre, Markham-Stouffville Hospital, Mackenzie Health Vaughan Hospital and the Vaughan Food Bank, and will help pay for things like medical and food supplies for healthcare workers and our most vulnerable.

“Everyone in York Region is feeling the direct impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the extraordinary time that our country is facing. As Members of Parliament, we are here to serve the people in our communities and we need to be there for them now more than ever in this difficult time. We thank all our residents for continuing to heed the advice of our public health officials to stay home, practice physical distancing and wash your hands often.“
