The 55th ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting was productive. Canada is being recognized as a Strategic Partner, our trade is growing, reaching over $30 billion last year and an 18% growth in Canadians investments now exceeding $40 billion. We committed to keep up the momentum negotiating the Canada-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

 

ASEAN Centrality is key to our Indo-Pacific Strategy and will unlock more opportunities for Canadian businesses and create jobs for workers. Our collaboration will build strong supply chains, advance sustainable and inclusive growth while working together on a clean energy transition, agriculture and food security, infrastructure and capacity building.
