Call for Nominations! The King Charles III Coronation Medal

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE KING CHARLES III CORONATION MEDAL.

On May 6, 2023, Canadians celebrated the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. A Canadian commemorative medal has been created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada and is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall. The Medal will highlight themes that both King Charles III and Canadians hold dear, including service, the environment and sustainability, and our country’s diversity.

As the Member of Parliament for Markham-Thornhill, I am pleased to participate as a nominating partner and recognize deserving members of our community.

Community members are invited to nominate outstanding individuals who have made a difference for this distinction. Nominations should focus on the achievements of persons who have helped build the Canada of today, including youth, volunteers, educators, veterans, and health care workers. Through their achievements and sustained contributions, nominees will have distinguished themselves from others in the same field, demonstrated high professionalism, or performed a deed or activity that brings great credit to Canada. The Medal is to be awarded to individuals only, not to groups or couples. No self-nominations will be accepted. Consideration will be given to residents of Markham-Thornhill. To be eligible, a person must have:

Made a significant contribution to the country, a province, a territory, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada; and
Been alive on May 6, 2023, the date of His Majesty’s Coronation. Nominations can be made posthumously if the nominee was alive on that date.

Please complete the nomination form and provide an additional description of up to 250 words (PDF format only) detailing why your nominee should receive The King Charles III Coronation Medal.

Please email your completed nomination form, and the additional description document to [email protected] The deadline for nomination is August 31, 2024. All nominations will be considered by a selection committee who will help identify eligible candidates.

Please note that the Medal may only be awarded once.

Guidelines for the Selection of Nominees

The following guidelines have been developed to assist nominators:

Nominations should focus on the achievements of persons who have helped build the Canada of today, including youth, volunteers, educators, veterans, and health care workers.
Nominees may be selected for their long service and good conduct as a volunteer or member of an organization; for having demonstrated high professionalism; or for performing a deed or activity that brings great credit to Canada.
Through their achievements and sustained contributions, nominees will have distinguished themselves from others employed in the same field.
The list of nominees should be inclusive and reflect the demographics of the region or community, with particular attention given to individuals belonging to groups that have been historically under-represented.
The Medal is to be awarded to individuals only, not to groups or couples.
Self-nominations will not be accepted.
Recipient names and their nominators will be published.
