That's a wrap on the 2022 ASEAN, G20, and APEC summits! This week Canada deepened our relationships in the Indo-Pacific and reinforced our commitment to regional peace and stability, expanding and diversifying trade to create good, middle-class jobs in Canada and Southeast Asia.
While in Southeast Asia we announced:
Canada’s elevation to Strategic Partner for ASEAN
$24.1 million to establish a Canadian Trade Gateway in Southeast Asia
$45 million for Team Canada trade missions to the Indo-Pacific
$750 million to help developing regions meet the demand for safe and sustainable infrastructure
In addition to new funding, through CPTPP and by negotiating new free trade agreements with ASEAN, India, and Indonesia we are creating resilient supply chains and opening doors for our businesses and people.
Canada knows the value of working with Indo-Pacific partners and I already look forward to being back!
